Orphaned Baby Manatees Saved By Humans Who Love Them
Let’s face it: manatees are adorable.
They’re also classified as a threatened species. In addition to loss of habitat, manatees also face dangers from boats and other watercraft, which is why you may see some with scars and injuries.
When Bonnie, a momma manatee who has lived in the Florida Keys for over 20 years died from boat-related injuries, she left behind two babies who couldn’t survive without her.
Scientists, law enforcement, and volunteers worked together to save these two calves.

Back at the sanctuary, both babies will be bottle-fed and nursed back to health.

Thanks to their rescuers, they may someday be able to live on their own in the wild.
Maybe they’ll even wind up in a Calming Manatee meme. Faith in humanity restored.
