woah woah woah hold on wait a sec…. is today really about to happen?
— Darren Criss (@DarrenCriss) June 6, 2012
Why yes, Darren, it is really happening.
Darren Criss’ rise to stardom has been an inspiring tale of dreams come true. From posting singing videos on Youtube to getting one of the lead roles in “Glee,” he is now readying himself to perform for President Obama at the LGBT fundraiser.
The headlining spot, originally slated for Pink, was forced to change hands when Pink suffered a stomach flu and was forced to back out. Darren tweeted to her, jokingly thanking her for messing up the chance, and then graciously thanking her for the opportunity:
🙂 So bummed I'll have to miss my dental appointment to sing for The US President Wed night. thanx @Pink for messin that up!! #greattiming

… But in all seriousness @Pink– what an honor! & while I'm at it, thanks for letting me sing your songs on glee 🙂 hope we did ya justice!

Fans have been super supportive of Darren Criss, tweeting him their best wishes all day. Even those that have followed him from his first couple uploads on Youtube are still slightly shocked at just how quickly this star has risen.
